Enniscorthy and District Chamber is working closely with industries located in Kilcannon Business Park and on the Old Dublin Road. A steering committee was established for the area prior to Christmas and at the request of the Chamber, Wexford County Council’s Chief Executive, Tom Enright, has met with the committee and agreed to have a new development plan for the area drawn up.
A team of consultants are being appointed by the County Council to undertake this important work and it is expected a new and comprehensive plan for the general Old Dublin Road area will be ready by late Spring or early Summer. Meanwhile, Enniscorthy Town and District Manager, Ger Mackey, has also met with the Steering Committee and has agreed to implement a series of measures which will improve the overall appearance of the area.
Sweeping of the Old Dublin Road is now being done on a regular weekly basis and all gullies and shores have been emptied of debris. This will help prevent rain water stagnation and the possibility of pedestrians being splashed by passing motorists.
Also, the introduction of a local bus link to and from the area at regular intervals during the day and working week is being examined and the hope is that this service will become a reality if enough support for it is forthcoming from the people working in that area.
