Back To Work Protocols

After an almost 5 month lockdown, Enniscorthy retailers re-opened on Monday without would-be customers having to make an appointment to enter their premises. This latest easing of public health  restrictions is to be warmly welcomed as the first step in normalising retail trade in both the town and district which, hopefully, will also see hotels pubs and restaurants being allowed to fully re-open shortly.

Despite the euphoria of the moment, it is essential that all necessary precautions are taken to protect both staff and customers and to this end the Chamber is recommending full compliance with Government recommendations as they presently apply.

On returning to work, employers must establish and issue a pre-return to work form for all workers and have them complete it. This form should confirm that the worker, to the best of their knowledge has no symptoms of COVID 19 and also confirm that the worker is not self isolating or awaiting the results of a COVID 19 test. Workers should be instructed on the latest up-to-date advice and guidance on public health, what a worker should do if they develop symptoms of COVID 19 and be told details of how the workplace is organised to address the risk from Covid 19.

Workers/employees should complete the return to work form, inform their employer if there are any other circumstances relating to Covid 19 not included in the form and self isolate at home at the first sign of COVID 19 symptoms. They should also complete any temperature testing as implemented by the employer and in line with Public Health advice.
