Operation Transformation Walk in Enniscorthy

Wexford Walks a great success as dozens take part in OT walks

Sport Ireland teamed up once again with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation to organise a number of nationwide walks in over fifty locations all around Ireland. A number of these were held in County Wexford on Saturday 13 January last, organised by the Sports Active Wexford Department at Wexford County Council.

Despite the yellow weather warnings more than 150 walkers of all ages across the county took part in the walks. There was a great atmosphere in Enniscorthy with 50 people participating in an early morning walk on the very popular Country Walk along the banks of the River Slaney.

The Sports Active Department would like to thank the many volunteers who supported the event, and also local sponsors Pettitts Supervalu, Aldi and Lidl Enniscorthy.

Speaking after the national walks took place, CEO of Sport Ireland Mr. John Treacy, commented:

Participation in physical activity is on the increase and recreational walking is hugely popular. Every year, thousands of people join our Nationwide Walks and the support they give to each other and to the Operation Transformation leaders is fantastic“.

The nationwide walks are delivered by Sport Ireland, Local Sports partnerships and are a very important event in the promotion of healthy living and the pursuit of exercise.
