Enniscorthy’s new Peace Park was officially opened on Monday by outgoing Chairman of the local Municipal Authority, Councillor Willie Kavanagh. Constructed at a cost of over €470,000, the Peace Park will provide a much needed amenity for people of all ages in the town and a wonderful new asset for visiting tourists.
The Park will be used for community based events including Arts projects etc. According to Wexford County Council’s CEO Tom Enright, the new Park is yet another major step in the advancement of Enniscorthy which, he added, is on the cusp of great things. The Park, he added, was a tribute to the work and foresight of the outgoing members of the Municipal Authority and to the dedicated work of Enniscorthy Town and District Manager, Liz Hore, and Director of Services, John Carley.
Enniscorthy and District Chamber was rerpresented at the opening by President Maree Lyng who said afterwards the Park is the culmination of a long held dream by many people in Enniscorthy.
