The detailed design of the new road bridge over the River Slaney to be constructed as Part of the Flood Relief Programme has been completed. It will replace Rafter Bridge which is to be demolished and will be constructed down river of The Riverside Park Hotel. New approach roads to the bridge and a new traffic management plan for the scheme has also been completed, according to the latest update report from Project Engineer, Larry McHale.
The tender process for the shortlisting of contractors for the construction of the new road bridge is on-going while tender documents for the construction works in general are currently being prepared.
Mott McDonald is the main Flood Defence Scheme Consultant while Rogan and O’ Donovan is the design consultant for the new road bridge and traffic management plan.
